The visit provided a first-hand understanding of how mental illnesses affect daily functioning, communication, and social interactions. Students learned that while some patients responded well to treatment, others required prolonged hospitalization due to severe symptoms.
The students learned about various methods used by the hospital staff to manage patients effectively. Key observations included: - The importance of structured routines for inpatients.
- The role of medication in stabilizing symptoms.
- Techniques used by caregivers to de-escalate aggressive behaviour.
- The significance of occupational therapy and recreational activities in rehabilitation.
